Albany Parking Authority Renames Columbia Garage to Riverfront Garage

ALBANY- The Albany Parking Authority (APA) announces the rebranding of the downtown Columbia Garage, with newly erected signage, as the Riverfront Garage.  This and other new signage being installed throughout downtown will help drivers easily locate the APA's convenient parking in downtown Albany.

"We have renamed this facility as the Riverfront Garage to help our customers realize that this parking connects with the pedestrian bridge to the Corning Preserve.  The preserve, which serves as the site for Alive at 5 and other special events, has a dock on the river and has beautiful views of the Hudson River year-round", said Michael Klein, Executive Director of the APA.  The garage is open 24/7/359 (it closes for 6 major holidays).

"The wide availability of parking downtown is one of Albany's best kept secrets.  The new ParkAlbany signage will raise awareness and let people know that there is a lot of convenient parking downtown.  All 3 APA garages are staffed, well lit, and located within one, two, or three blocks of most downtown destinations."

The 850-space Riverfront Garage is just as close to downtown Albany's Enterteinment district on North Pearl Street and the adjoining streets as it is to the Corning Preserve.  This is an ideal place to park to enjoy the nightlife, and customers pay only $2 for up to 12 hours of parking beginning at 6pm daily.  Customers are welcome to leave their cars and park for days rather than hours - the additional cost is a maximum of $11 for the next 12 hours.  Monthly parking is available as well.  For a parking locator map and additional information see www.ParkAlbany.com.

The Albany Parking Authority's mission is to provide safe, convenient and affordable parking in support of economic development in the Cirty of Albany.  The Albany Parking Authority manages more than 5,000 parking spaces to serve those that live, work, or visit New York's Capital.  The Authority was established in 1983 and is authorized to construct, operate and maintain city public parking facilities.  The Authority receives no tax support or Federal, State, City or private grants.
