On-Street Parking Meters
LOCATION
On-Street Parking Meters are located in the Central Business District in Downtown Albany, the Central Avenue corridor (Albany's old "Main Street"), the Hospital District near Albany Medical Center and Saint Peter's Hospital, and in additional areas, based on parking demand.

DAYS OF OPERATION
On-Street Meters operate Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm, with the exception of certain national holidays.
Off-Street Meters operate Monday through Saturday all day long.
CURRENCY
Pay and Display Meters accept Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard and Discover) and all US coins except pennies.
Single Space Meters accept only U.S. quarters, gold-colored (Sacagawea and Presidential) dollar coins and CashKeys. Other coins will not register time on the meters
DURATION
Pay and Display Meters are long term meters that allow 10 hours of parking.
Single Space Meters generally allow parking for 1 to 10 hours with the most common duration that is 2 hours. Signs are posted every block, advising of the parking time limit for meters.
Plastic Holder for Motorcycles
Like other motorists, motorcycles using Pay & Display Meters, must display their receipt on their vehicle. To prevent theft or damage to the receipt, interested motorists can contact the Albany Parking Authority at 434-8886 to purchase a tag holder at the discounted price of $20. This plastic holder should be attached to the motorcycle. It has a convenient lock that will allow motorcyclists to display their parking ticket while securing the holder to their motorcycle.
These plastic tag holders would also work for convertibles.

On-Street - State Street Pay and Display Meters:
- If paying with coins, insert coins to add time; If paying with credit/debit card, insert card and remove quickly, then press buttons below to add time
- Press green button to complete transaction
- Display receipt on passenger side of dashboard, date and time up
Off-Street - Central Avenue and WAMC Lots Pay & Display Meters:
- If paying with coins, insert coins to add time; If paying with credit/debit card, insert card and remove quickly, then press buttons below to add time
- Press green button to complete transaction
- Display receipt on passenger side of dashboard, date and time up
Off-Street - Quackenbush Lot Pay by Space Meters:
- Remember your space
- Enter your space letter and number
- Pay using coins or credit card following the instructions on the screen
- Press green button to validate transaction and take receipt
Parking Meter Enforcement
Parking violations, including expired time, are ticketed by Public Safety Officers (PSO) of the Albany Police Department, and citations revenue from fines and penalties remains with the City.

CDTA Swiper Card
Pay and Display Meters located off-street parking along Central Avenue, WAMC and Quackenbush Lots accept CDTA swiper cards. Pay and Display Meters located on-street parking along State Street DO NOT accept CDTA swiper cards.
CDTA Swiper Passes are valid for 5 free parking days per month. Use them just like a credit card!
